SOLO (often also called Surakarta) is the neighboring city of Yogyakarta in Java Island, Indonesia. Travelers are more visiting Yogyakarta, Solo, but actually it is no less stunning.
About 15 miles north of the city of Solo there are important archaeological sites, namely Sangiran. There are many fossils of early humans who lived on the island of Java, a million years ago. Half of all the world's hominid fossils found in Sangiran so set it as one of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
At the foot of Mount Lawu not far from the city of Solo, and the Temple stood Sukuh Cetho. Sukuh is one of the most interesting temples in Southeast Asia.
